2022 Recap!

blog.dorg.tech

2022 was a cool year. We definitely have memories to share!

Let’s remember some of them:

We were part of amazing projects:

Tezos

We contributed with the release of Lambda DAOs and Homebase Lite:

“A Lambda DAO is essentially a custom DAO structure that allows members to submit proposals to interact with smart contracts, injected as lambdas that can execute arbitrary contract calls, similar to Gnosis Safe.”

In homebase lite, its new features include tokenized communities to instantiate DAOs, token-weighted polls, and much more!

Gnosis Zodiac

We converted the Open Zeppelin governor contract into something that can be used with a Safe through Zodiac.

Here’s a deeper explanation:

Big shout-out to @cedricwaxwing, @manboy_eth, and @juliopavila22 from @dOrg_tech. The @GnosisGuild pod that built out the wizard in the Zodiac sfe app to enable such seamless setup.

We also collaborated with more awesome projects and teams

Shout out to these greats:

  • Opolis

  • Starkware

  • Ethereum Foundation

  • AcreDAOS

  • Polywrap

  • Cent.co

  • Messari

  • Popcorn

  • Eco

  • DoinGud

Thank you for your trust! We’re happy you were part of our 2022.

2022 was a big year for us in terms of visibility. We gained public recognition, here’s some of the articles we had been featured in:

TIME Magazine

They made a whole article about us:

and as if that wasn't enough…we were featured later this year in this article about Crypto Layoffs

The World Economic Forum

We were included in the June’s White Paper of the World Economic Forum (WEF) about Decentralized Autonomous Orgs. Check it out here

Delphi Digital

We had a blast during our participation in the Delphi Digital Podcast, you can now listen to the full episode:

Messari

Messari mentioned us in one of their articles about Urbit:

“Urbit is a private, digital homestead for all-around Web3 usage; its peer-to-peer OS offers cloud and community-based services.” and they called us a “community of communities”. Thanks for that!

“dOrg is a prominent example of a developer collective that supports various Web3 projects. The dOrg community is self-managed: it consists of Web3 developers coming together to coordinate and collaborate on dApp development.”

1kx Network

1kx Network talked about us twice! They included us in two of their articles on Service DAOs, gave a different view of DAOs, addressing how service DAOs face challenges, and find solutions.

Internally, it has been a year characterized by improvements and changes. Let's look back on some great achievements of our members and the DAO:

Ori and Ron - Princeton’s 2022 Web3 Course

One of our biggest accomplishments this year. Ori and Ron gave a talk on the current state and vision of DAOs, they did a good job in their presentation:

Phil - TEDxTalk

Phil was the speaker for the TEDx talk on DAO. He made sure to use simple language so that newbies could understand. So, if you are planning to get someone involved in DAOs and decentralization, you should definitely check him out:

Nestor - Metafest 2022

Nestor represented dOrg during the online event "Metafest" this 2022. He connected online with the Metafam community to spread the word about our doings:

Mackenzie - Utopia Payments and Reimbursement

Mackenzie organized a great workshop for all of us to learn more about how Utopia works, how to add contributors, how to make payments through it and much more:

Niraj and Kris - ETHIndia Hackathon

We went to ETHIndia...interesting things happened while we were there: Niraj and Kris who are actively building for Polywrap, were hacking and came up with this idea: Polysnap, check out what they built.

Katia - Project Management 101

In our current improvements, our project management has been a key part of our positive change process this year. Katia facilitated a workshop for us on the fundamentals of project management, including kanban and scrum, in the context of a Decentralized Autonomous Organization.

Jordan and Nestor - Programming Principles and Design Patterns

This workshop was made for our devs community, basically Jordan and Nestor guide us through the bread and water of programming.

We are grateful and appreciative to each of our members who have contributed internally, thank you for following our improvements and for taking care of our DAO infrastructure.

Definitely, our community is truly committed to our mission!

But there’s more…

Lanski - Devcon

Lanski gave an amazing workshop representing his personal project dAppNode, he taught "everything a Solo Staker should know".

Clara - ETHBarcelona

Clara, our Member XP facilitator, was a speaker at ETHBarcelona. She shared her knowledge and experience about Solarpunk, Cohousing and DAOs, it was amazing!

Marco and Massimiliano - TRONHackathon

Marco and Massimiliano gave us super good news when they told us that they won the first prize at TRONHackaton in the GameFi category. They built Galaxy Throne, a fully blockchain sci-fi strategy game. More information about their project here:

Joshua - ETHMexico

Our youngest builder, only 18y/o, won a bounty from Polygon during ETHMexico with his team. It was his first hackathon, but he totally killed it!

Other internal (but not less important) improvements and achievements are:

We renewed our website and our handbook!

If you haven't, you should check it out before the end of the year:

Our new good looking website:

Our handbook:

We launched our podcast dOrg Hot Seat

We're ending the year with the release of a tech podcast! This is a podcast that delves into the operation of each project. In this online space we talk to builders about the tech and development complexity behind each project.

One relevant event that we simply can't help but share about how it was....

Our Retreat 2022!

We had a great time in Gran Canaria, got to know each other in real life and made excellent connections, which certainly gave us a greater sense of community.

We spent 7 days together on a beautiful island, surrounded by good food, good people and good beaches. But if you want to know more about our retreat, please read this:

2023, here we come!

For this coming year, we are looking forward to helping web3 projects and orgs build their infrastructure, as well as helping web2 companies integrate into web3.

We plan to release more episodes of the dOrg Hot Seat Podcast. We already have great guests and projects that are ready to show their doings.

We will be at different IRL Web3 events... We hope to see you at ETH Denver!

And... Retreat 2023! Let's see what our next destination will be!

And so we say goodbye to this year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Let's see where this game takes us, see you in level 2023!
