Builder of the month
🪷Magenta Ceiba
Job: I'm a project manager and junior developer. I also do finance architecture and token engineering
Specialization: All my work revolves around finance and governance tools for collective decision making
Nationality: US
Location: I live in the US in New Hampshire outside of Boston
Hobbies: My hobbies are sewing and designing clothes, playing music, gardening, and dyeing textiles with plants and fungi. Lately I've been joking I'm "the cottage core coder”.
What is it like to be a builder at dOrg?
It's inspiring every day. Working with highly talented engineers who are also good humans. Because we service so many projects in the ecosystem, we have together deep knowledge of technical solutions, best practices, and state of the art innovations in Ethereum and other chains.
When we are developing architectures and codebases, if we have a question or need to pull in a person with expertise in a specific area for perspective, we have access to each other. In that way it's a supermind and one of the most efficient DAOs I've been exposed to. I hope to see more collectives emerge in traditional industries that form as DAOs for transparent finances and more effective decision making / management.
What is your work style like?
My role as a project manager involves helping coordinate and keep projects on track. I usually take on 1-3 at once. So far I've been on small teams that don't require a lot of my time to keep things steady and coherent, so I work roughly part-time at dOrg, and the other half at Bloom Network, a cyber-physical social network that helps people find and participate in local climate initiatives.
That arrangement has allowed me to skill up as a coder while I contribute my expert skill set at dOrg. I've worked in decentralized collectives my whole life, which has helped me know how to align cross-team collaborations, skill sets, and the context each role has informed perspective on.
I listen carefully for where people might not be understanding each other, so that we are aligned on architecture to fit the project's objective, and am a skilled facilitator so, for example, I'll stop a meeting to make sure we get clear on a point.
What do you do when you are not working?
I just started gardening, a lifelong dream, so in the mornings I tend to my plants. I built all my garden beds and fancy planters. I kind of just build things all the time, I'm like a beaver. I also sew and design my own clothes - my latest piece is based on Korean street style combat pants but with girly Rococo-looking fabric. At ETH Denver I could have made so much money selling those lol, people kept asking me to make them a pair. I also have been developing a PFP series as a fundraiser for Bloom Network, using AI to make ridiculously cute creatures.
I'm learning code in my offtime since it ended up that I'm the lead developer on Bloom Network. Currently learning about all things image optimization. My goal with code is to learn machine learning, to make interfaces that augment and inform mass collective action on climate and its related market conditions.
What would you like others to know about dOrg?
Our service DAO model is one of the most functional ways to start a DAO. We've been doing this since 2019 and were one of, if not the, first legal DAOs. The genius of many of our members in iterating processes over time, improving how we form teams, self-govern, and co-build with clients is phenomenal.
dOrg is a valuable resource for any client who is looking to build a web3 feature for the first time, as well as for blockchain-native teams who need to build edge-of-innovation tooling. The responsibility, care, and intelligence of our builders is a joy to work with. I look forward to continued releases from dOrg that bring scalable value to the ecosystems we work with.
Some examples of that if you want to check them out are Zodiac, DAO Drops, and Polywrap.
